Z-day done…
March 16, 2008
A great success by all accounts, in terms of the numbers. 70 Countries 400+ Cities – that’s quite some achievement for a piece of conspiracy theory ;) Seriously, good news, roll on October. As has now been widely agreed amongst those who were sitting on the fence – even if you believe some of the arguments and or sources used are contentious, or worse, dubious, the whole cannot be written off so easily. If this documentary does nothing more, what can be so wrong with making people THINK about the world they live in, and what governments actually do, and who they do it for. The whole democracy thing, along with the multitude of taxes levied upon almost all but the very richest few hundred, the wars, the excuses for wars always seemed fishy to me. I can’t tell you why, when for so many others it seems to make so much sense. I have lived my whole life without giving the slightest credance to any fanciful conspiracy theories , however for me the whole`Orwell`scenario (to use something simple and familiar) is just to stark to ignore these days. It’s not simply that the “strongest” have risen to the top of society, this indeed has been an ongoing goal spanning generations for enlightened secret societies (or rather those who consider themselves to be) and we are worringly close to the technologies being implemented (RFID tagging for people (Think ASBO evolved), the UK NIR, National ID Card) which will help them achieve this one world `vision` and set it in place for a very very long time, and reduce the standards of living for the majority of humanity. That’s before I’ve even touched on the long term “environmental” agenda, and where we, humans, fit into it. At the moment it’s still pretty good for us in the West, broadly speaking. Consider now who “Us” is. I speak from Britain, where I was born, although this applies equally to other countries in Europe and the US too. What makes a “citizen” British? Is it when they walk over a certain line, they feel some lifelong bond with this land and its cultures? Or does this take generations? What we have now, in essence, is a mish mash of cultures, with different ideas and values and, critically, varying levels of feeling of belonging to a country, or rather sense of roots. Is it the people who `make a country` or the geography? I’m going down the route of discussing the apparent errosion of national sovereignty and financially independent coutries, as is clearly seen in the creation of Europe, the EU, the NAU and NAFTA…why is it that still so many people hear “one world government” and find it surprising or exotic or fanciful?) You can’t see a plant grow, but it does. Even if you had the time and inclincation to sit there and watch it eagle eyed for a year, you would not consciously see it move in growth. Like the farmer in the field, one day, the corn is over his head.
Muse on…I’ll get back to this one…
7 NEW SINS?
March 16, 2008
Well they can put those right where you put the last 7 then. I and many other perfectly sensible human beings do not need some manipulative institution (especially one which foams at the mouth about worshipping some non-existent omniscient interventionist `god` (and yes I place all `white light` religions in this same basket)
The new deadly sins include polluting, genetic engineering, being obscenely rich, drug dealing, abortion, pedophilia and causing social injustice.
The Catholic Church divides sins into venial, or less serious, sins and mortal sins, which threaten the soul with eternal damnation unless absolved before death through confession and penitence.
It holds mortal sins to be “grave violations of the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes,” including murder, contraception, abortion, perjury, adultery and lust.
`Being obscenely rich`?? Well the Church is fucked on that one then – the paedophilia part doesn’t sound too promising for them either.
I wil, as per usual add to this later. For now, gut reaction to yet more insidious manipulation by the state and it’s tentacles is just a simple succinct `fuck off`…
And I thought they always maintained there was something special, or “other worldly” about the original sins, something to do with a tablet of stone and thunder and lightening. I could be wrong, you’ve got me, I confess – I never read the bible. But there’s nothing that any book can say about itself or in itself that I will accept as evidence of its authenticity…and let’s be honest, people struggle to satisfactorily verify accounts of many more recent events around the world from considerably more recent sources. Now it seems they (the Church) are so full of themselves (or perhaps they realise most people wont go for the divine angle anymore) they just sit around a table and knock together a quick remix of the “originals” which is more relevant and conducive to their enlightened brethrens vision of a new world and send out a press release. How times are changing.
Codex Alimantarius
March 16, 2008
Look it up, see what you find. I found myself hearing alarm bells.
Having turned the oven off and taken out the smouldering remains of my dinner I sat down and read up on Codex Alimantarius and it’s interesting stuff. Not something I, or may others I daresay, have heard much if anything about. I think I can still hear alarm bells, of a slightly different variety. I will come back to it and develop my entry, as it were, but as per usual (or rather as is becoming the norm) I am using this blog as a kind of scratchpad, just little items of curiousity, to be further analysed or dropped as I see fit along the way. It’s a kinda evolutionary thing ;)
Why Europe… what’s in a name?
March 16, 2008
Got to wondering about why Europe was called Europe, so I looked around and this is pretty much how it looks…
Etymologically, the dominant theory suggests the name Europe is derived from the Greek roots meaning broad (eur-) and eye (op-, opt-), hence Eurṓpē, “wide-gazing” (compare with glaukōpis (grey-eyed) Athena or boōpis (ox-eyed) Hera). Broad has been an epithet of Earth itself in the reconstructed Proto-Indo-European religion.
In ancient Greek mythology, Europa was a Phoenician princess whom Zeus abducted after assuming the form of a dazzling white bull. He took to the island of Crete where she gave birth to Minos, Rhadamanthus and Sarpedon. For Homer, Europe (Greek: Εὐρώπη, Eurṓpē; see also List of traditional Greek place names) was a mythological queen of Crete, not a geographical designation.
